Revolutionary Organisations and
Class Consciousness
(Part 9)

11.The revolutionary organization's role and responsibilities
11.1 During the period of the rise of capitalism

Much of the political uncertainty and ambiguity, especially organizational incomprehension expressed in revolutionary organizations is based on an incomplete understanding of the theory of capitalist decency and its practical consequences or implications of the theory that has involved the revolutionary action.

Not only the objective conditions for revolution in the rise of capitalism period had matured, but even the proletariat itself suffers from an immaturity.

Huge parts of the proletariat from rural areas or small workshops were poured into the industry. The proletariat was expanding quantitatively, but they were without any political and organizational traditions and often influenced by religion and home nostalgic. As a result socialist education got an exaggerated role to itself and the task of revolutionary organization introduced as injection of class consciousness into the working class.

During the period of the rise of capitalism that was era of formation of national states, most came to speak of socialism in national form. And in consequents of it the performance of revolutionary organization would also assume the role of national, socialism was supposed to be built in each country and then create a Federation of socialist states, is why the First and Second International, was a federation of national units rather than world wide a centralized organization.

Therefore, the objective and subjective conditions for involving of revolutionaries had contrary form of today. Unions and the parliament still had a progressive role, revolutionary organizations could take a mass form and therefore the task of revolutionary organization during the rising period of capitalism had been organizing of working class.

"The fact that the objectives and conditions for the revolution did not come of age, led to a specialization of functions which should be organically linked to an atomization of the organization's functions:
  • The theoretical tasks was reserved for specialists (schools of Marxism, professional theorists)

  • The agitation and propaganda tasks were performed by the employees of union and parliamentary representatives, 'professional revolutionaries'

  • The organizational tasks were performed by functionaries who were paid by the party." [1][Our translation]

11.2 In the decadence period of capitalism

The Objective conditions that followed the First World War meant fundamental change in the role and function of the revolutionary organization. The task of the revolutionary organization is no longer, physically organizing of the class and revolution, but is playing a political leadership. Revolution is the whole class works. Due to changes in objective conditions, the organization no longer has specific groups such as youth, women, and cooperators and so on.

Revolutionary Organization is formed neither in national scale but also on international scale and its program is identical in all countries, whether in the peripheral countries of capital, whether in the metropolis countries of capital. Although there are still peculiarities exists today, as a product of uneven development of capitalism and even in some places where pre-capitalist production is also remain, but would never put in question the program as a whole ant its internationalist orientation. The program of revolutionary organization in the era of decadence capitalism is a program with a global orientation or anything else.

During the decline of capitalism objective conditions for revolution has maturated. Concentration of the proletariat has become more, the overwhelming majority of the proletariat is able to read and write (in Western countries nearly one hundred percent), and the class has become more capable than before, class consciousness in an international scale is more homogeneous. These changes also have changed the form, role and objectives of the revolutionary organizations of proletariat.

Unlike the rise period of capitalism the revolutionary organization covers a small minority who are more aware on their revolutionary activities and program. Because becoming more homogenous of class consciousness, theoretical work is more a collective responsibility and theory is no longer a product of leadership but rather is a collective product and individual consciousness is crystallized in the collective consciousness.

11.3 Historical and international dimensions the Revolutionary Organization

Development of the objective conditions required changes in the forms and functionality of the revolutionary organizations in different dimensions; these dimensions give unified form to the class and the revolutionaries. Revolutionary organizations should be avoided and prevent natural and artificial divisions of the working class. Revolutionary Organization by destroying the national framework set out by the bourgeoisie in front of it is aroused and through the involvement and internationalist defense of class struggle in all countries, then it will be defense of internationalist dimension of the revolutionary organization. On the other side the revolutionary organization as the most advanced part of the class has a historic responsibility against the class. Because it is the revolutionary organization that transfers the irreplaceable experience and historical memory of the working class that has done of a generation ago to the new generation of the working class and so as the revolutionary organization is a bridge between the proletarian struggles of previous generations and new generations of proletarian struggles. Bridge between periods of remission of class struggle with periods of acute class struggle, so revolutionary organization should be able to actively maintain in force and express the most conscious of the world proletariat’s historic goal, and this expression the historical dimension of the revolutionary organization.

11.4 Activity of the Revolutionary Organization

Activities of the revolutionary organization should be in logical relationship with its tasks and as a whole coherent could be understandable. Activities of the revolutionary organization change in depending on the process of class struggle. During the acute class struggle that is going on, the task of revolutionary organization is being at the forefront of the struggle to help to advancing and developing of class struggle to the highest possible level. But during that class struggle is a recession mode, and the class is influenced by the bourgeois ideology, revolutionary organization is forced to fight against the tide. That its outline is as follows:
  • Theoretical activity - active involvement of developing, spreading, depth troubleshooting of class consciousness and then generalizing of it to the entire class in a dynamic process. Class consciousness is neither something comprehensive nor complete as is over, but over time should always be developed according to the historical and objective conditions.

  • Aactivities through the involvement in class struggle - active involvement in the class struggle that is the main practice of revolutionary organization, where the theory becomes the weapon of struggle through the revolutionary propaganda and agitation.

  • Organizational activities - development and strengthening of various bodies of organization bodies in order to advance the organization.

Debate, political confrontation, confrontation of different ideas for overcoming isolation and sectrism is not only necessary but also vital and essential. This is only possible through the discussion and confrontation of different view point within the Proletarian Political Milieu, especially in the form of public and documented and will help advancing of internationalist traditions and principles.

11.5 revolutionary goals of the organization

Certainly, the goals of the revolutionary organization have changed in the decline of capitalism. Developing of productive forces, now achieved a degree of development that the capitalist mode of production has become shackle and chain for its further development. There is no room for permanent reforms in the capitalist system, but the proletariat has been in front of a major alternative: the communist revolution or the destruction of humanity. This means that organization should not engage in the struggles like, struggle for civil rights, struggle for women's rights, struggle against racism and so but only through its direct action, directed towards its goal, fighting for the world wide Communist Revolution.

According to the history of “Russian Revolution” the rise and exists, occurs only, in the revolutionaries and the class, a class from which it can never require “no rights” or “privileges”. They are not, neither substitute for class, nor for acquire power or exercising state power on behalf of the class.”

Their basic role is to intervene in all class struggles until after the revolution to fulfill their irreplaceable role in the development of class consciousness and defense of the communist program until elimination of classes.
